Regional Examiner Rick Nelson and Assistant Deputy Commissioner Wayne Arbuthnot were among the 200+ attendees of the 2019 ABA Wealth Management and Trust Conference held in San Francisco, California. Conference participants included trust officers and operational staff, attorneys, financial planners, and both state and national regulators. National renowned speakers presented on an array of important topics including the economy, the new tax law, trust liability issues, regulatory updates, estate planning, and financial management. This conference was very informative and educational for Nelson and Arbuthnot, whose duties at the State Banking Department include performing examinations on our state-chartered trust institutions.

2019 CBAO Leadership Retreat

Chief of Staff Regina Rainey, Assistant Deputy Commissioner Jeff Bagby, and Senior Examiner Randy Willard attended the 2019 CBAO Leadership Retreat in San Diego, California. Included in the agenda for the conference was a regulator round table discussion in which all three presented and conversed on topics pertinent to the banking industry such as regulatory treatment of marijuana-related businesses, liquidity management, reciprocal deposits, succession planning, and CRA modernization. Joining them on the panel was Tara Humston, Vice President, Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City; Joe Meade, Assistant Regional Director, FDIC, Dallas, Texas; and Kent Stone, Associate Deputy Comptroller for the Southern District, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, Dallas, Texas. The panel discussion was moderated by Paul Foster, Paul Foster Law Offices, Norman, Oklahoma.
Also speaking at the conference was former Navy SEAL, Bob Schoultz, Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City President Esther George, ICBA Securities President Jim Reber, and CalTech Business Development Executive Brad Giddens.
