OSBD Examiners Attend OBA Operations School

Oklahoma Banking Department Examiners Chuck Harryman,

LaNell Davis, and Kandace Mills completed the Oklahoma Bankers Association

Operations School held the week of November 13-17, 2017. The school is designed to prepare attendees

to manage effectively and efficiently the many operations functions within a

bank. Students were introduced to numerous concepts that impact a bank’s bottom

line.

The course provided students the opportunity to develop a

thorough understanding of key operations areas, as well as expanded on the role

their interrelationships and contributions play in adding to the overall profitability

of a bank. Participants were instructed

on how to apply analytical skills using proven techniques such as work flow

analysis, financial analysis and quality indicators. Management skills in relation to human

resource planning and motivational techniques were strengthened. An awareness of the regulatory and

competitive factors affecting banking today, along with the overall impact

these environmental factors have on operational functions was included.

State-of-the-art technologies within the banking industry

which promote cost effectiveness, encourage new ideas, incite product

creativity, and enhance bank profitability were discussed and evaluated among

the participants. The material was

presented in a way that those with operational experience and new-comers alike

were afforded the opportunity to brush up on current and relevant issues facing

the banking industry today. Anyone with

a desire to delve into the operational side of the banking industry would benefit

from participating in this course.
